The family of the late BETA Vice-President Mitch Fallon joined more than 270 people at the 2018 Spirit of Learning – A Residential Conference to remember and acknowledge his dedication to the BETA Committee prior to his unexpected passing in 2017.
As special guests, Mr and Mrs Fallon travelled from Hervey Bay to receive a Life Membership Award on his behalf, along with his brothers Luke and Joshua.
The William Arthur Ward poem features on the Life Membership Award presented to the Fallon Family which the BETA Committee will attest is a fine summary of Mitch and his work. It reads:
The mediocre teacher tells.
The good teacher explains.
The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires.

In addition to the Life Membership Award, the BETA Committee will honour the memory of Mitch with an annual bursary in his name.
The Mitch Fallon Award will be received by a Beginning Teacher from Mitchelton State High School – where Mitch was teaching at the time of his unexpected death.
Dana Kraschnefski, currently in her first year teaching at Mitchelton State High School, was nominated by her school administration to receive the inaugural bursary of full Conference registration including accommodation to the Spirit of Learning conference, BETA’s landmark event each year and one that Mitch Fallon had both attended and coordinated during his career.
