The Department of Education is pleased to announce the new Mentoring Beginning Early Childhood Teachers program.
The Mentoring Beginning Early Childhood Teachers program is a new Queensland Government initiative which aims to lift teaching standards across early childhood services by skilling mentors to support provisionally registered early childhood teachers as they transition to full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
We are seeking provisionally registered early childhood teachers to apply to participate in this program.
Who is eligible for support by a mentor?
Provisionally registered early childhood teachers working in early childhood services in Metropolitan and Central Queensland regions are eligible to apply for the Mentoring Beginning Early Childhood Teachers program.
Provisionally registered ECTs must be working in an approved kindergarten program using the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
To express interest in an early childhood teacher mentorship, provisionally registered early childhood teachers can contact ecec.mentoring@qed.qld.gov.au.

The need to build the capacity of the early childhood sector to deliver high quality education and care for all children in Queensland has been a central focus of the early childhood education and care Workforce Action Plan 2016-2019.
A number of key issues have emerged from the Workforce Action Plan annual review. In particular, early childhood teachers have expressed difficulties in accessing a fully registered mentor to support their progression from provisional to full teacher registration.
